Have you adjusted to working from home or are you still looking for strategies that can help you tackle the WFH life? This year brought many challenges, and for some, that challenge was working from home - especially for those who may be doing so for the first time.

Our team at Mckenna Marketing Solutions has come up with their top tips to keep you productive while working from home this year. Keep reading to learn more about the WFH workplace strategies that helped us stay on top of our game this year.

Make a Designated Workspace

Perhaps the biggest challenge that comes with switching from office life to working from home is that the line between home life and work can easily get blurry. However, it’s incredibly important, both for productivity and general well-being, to keep work and home life separate. If you never disconnect from your work, your home life can take a hit, and vice versa.

Think about it - when going to the office, your work is physically separate from your home life. When setting up a home workspace, you want the separation from the rest of your house to recreate this feel by creating a designated work area. Using a spare bedroom as a workspace is a great way to allow for a quiet space that isn’t being used on a daily basis otherwise.

However, in smaller spaces like an apartment, this luxury may not be available. Luckily, there are tons of ways to create designated workspaces in areas by using nooks or room dividers.

Now Invest in it!

Our surroundings have a huge effect on our mood, productivity, and focus. For this reason, investing in making your workspace functional and comfortable will pay off. Make your workplace into a place you actually enjoy being by adding decor, a comfortable chair, and good natural lighting where possible.

Add organizational helpers like cabinets and stock up on all the supplies you need to keep you on track from home. Keep your workspace tidy and uncluttered to stay organized, both mentally and physically.

If your workspace is set up in a space that you spend a lot of time in after the workday, “pack up” your work at the end of the day to turn your work brain off and enjoy your evening.

The key is to do whatever you need to do to “leave” your workspace so that you can avoid letting your career and your home life clash.
